Keep Your Skin Looking Great

Each year you hope to become a better version of yourself, smarter, healthier, younger looking.  But the demands of your busy world make it hard to carve out time for yourself.  Time that is so incredibly important for your well-being.

We all know that our wardrobe changes with the seasons, but did you know your skin care Each season brings environmental changes that we can’t escape.  So what can we do to slow down the signs of aging and maintain a supple youthful glow, yet simple enough to work into our busy lives? You can have a routine that will keep dry rosy skin and chapped lips away.

Our diet and stressful lifestyles play a significant role in the appearance of our skin.  But did you know that 90% of visible signs of aging are environmental.  Colder temperatures and decreased humidity not only dry out our skin but can also be damaging our skin elasticity.

Here are some ways to beat the harsh effects of winter.

  1. Hydrate from the inside out with good food choices and plenty of water.  Drinking enough water used to be really hard for me.  Then I started my day with a full glass of water, another at lunch and two in the evening.  Then, I was at least getting the minimum.  I also started drinking water with a high PH which allows your body to absorb it faster and eliminates that bloated feeling.
  2. Try a more moisture rich cleanser. Choosing lukewarm water vs hot will help to avoid stripping as many oils away from the skin.
  3. Give your regimen a boost with vitamin C which will help your skin look more even toned, radiant, and hydrated, as well as help reduce fine lines and wrinkles.  I recommend Mary Kay TimeWise Serum +C or TimeWise Vitamin C Activating Squares.
  4. Be sure to exfoliate your skin.  Moisture can’t get in if there are too many dead skin cells.  Think of it like trying to watering a dead plant.  No matter how much water we give it, it’s not coming back to life.  So in order for the moisturizer to reach new skin cells you must exfoliate.  Mary Kay offers choices for your face as well as for your body. One of my favorites is Satin Hands and Satin Lips!
  5. Protect your skin. While we reach for the gloves and scarves, the winter sun can be just as damaging as in the summer. Be sure that your day cream and/or your foundation has sunscreen.  You will also want to check your foundation shade as our skin changes with the seasons.  Not only the shade (because now we’re not as tan) but the formula as well.  Choose a more hydrating formula for winter.
